Eligibility
- Applicant must be a full-time journalism student at ASU, UA, or NAU at the time of applying. Student must have completed a minimum one term and have at least one term remaining before graduation.
- Students must have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in the newspaper industry including journalism, photography, arts and graphics, online, advertising or marketing.
- Applicant should have a minimum cumulative grade average of 3.0.
- Employees of Arizona Newspapers Foundation, Inc. or Arizona Newspapers Association, Inc. or members of their immediate families are not eligible for awards.
Selection criteria
A panel of ANF board members will evaluate all applications. Candidates will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Application
- Essay
- Published Work
- Current Resume
- Transcript
- At least two letters of Recommendation (one must be from a professor)
Essay
Please provide a 1,000 to 1,500-word essay explaining your interest in the newspaper business. Please include your educational goals and how they relate to your career objectives.
Published Work
Must include one to six samples of published work. Tear sheets preferred but not necessary. Must include publication name and date published.
Notification
Recipients will be notified via mail by August 5, 2013.
